they drain it in the winter for repairs on the welland canal #4.
see the old pump house in the far left corner?
thats right by the blue ghost tunnel.
there are trails all around here, the bruce trail goes along the ridge at the top of this photo, all along thorold, through merritt and into st catharines ontario canada
